My Reminiscence

A poem which I co-wrote with my teenage friend, Wendy Chin which got published in the weekly New Thrill tabloit magazine in the late 1979 ( there is no actual date as the other half of the paper was cut ). A slight amendment was made though so as to make the poem sound smoother.

By the shore I sat
Bubbling waves swept my feet wet
Heavenly breeze caressed me tenderly
Surfacing buried emotions so hurtfully

Painting vividly a picturesque of yesteryear
Even then as a child I shed much tears
I was not shown any love
Nor taught how to care
Ain't I yours the one you bear?
Why then was I dumped & abandoned?
While to others you danced with attendance?

Was it so wrong that you gave life to me?
Now a tormented soul wanting to be free
Often I pause and wonder
Was it fate that made it impossible

For you to show me a with little endearment
So that disheartened me may find some peace and contentment
As the tide subsides
Twilight is no longer in sight
Bygones I cannot recapture
To a destined life I am prepared to suffer

Note : In those days as far as I remembered we were paid a $20 for a published poem which later was reduced to ONLY $5 ( a S h E s ! )

P E A C E

The following was yet another poem composed by me and published once upon a time in our local weekly magazine's Poet's Corner in late 1979

Peace is the most covetible possession on Earth,
And the greatest treasure in the entire Universe,
It is a divine attribute,
A quality of the soul,
It fills the pure heart,
Deserts the lustful,
Escapes the greedy and selfish beings.

Peace is an ornament of the sage,
A state of quietness,
A freedom from disturbance,
Anxiety, agitation & violence,
Peace is a kind of harmony,
It is silence, calmness & rest,
Being the happy natural state of mind,
It is is birthright.

Peace is like a seed,
Slowly sprouting from under the soil,
And like a bud,
That opens ii the depth of the most silent hours.
In a state of peace and love,
People evolve and grow in their distinctive culture,
Developing perfect civilization.

Peace dwells not in outward things,
But deep within it's own soul.
For Peace, war is his disgrace,
So, withdraw from external objects,
Meditate rest in your soul,
And you will realize everlasting Peace !

Life As I See It

This was a poem I wrote and was published in September 1979
in our local weekly tabloid magazine called New Thrill.
Hope you like it.

Only the sentimental breeze,
With it's heavenly bliss,
Could feel my heaving sighs,
As it gently passes by.

Only the birds high above,
Gliding in the clear blue skies,
Would care for my forsaken love,
And it's yearning cry.

Only the tide receding fast,
From the smooth flowing stream,
Could erase the sorrowful past,
With it's unfulfilled dream.

Only left in this wilderness,
Is my loneliness,
As I live to see,
Life to me,

is just an unfinished symphony.
